There was a major shooting incident at the DC navy yard. At least thirteen people are dead and several others are wounded. The identity of the shooter is known. He is dead, apparently shot to death by responding security or DC police. There may (0r may not) be a second shooter. The incident took place in a secure facility that does classified work. The dead suspect was a contractor employee at the base.
Right know much is unknown. If this was a one-man incident it may have been a “traditional” work place shooting rather than an act of terrorism. If there was more than one shooter, the odds of that being true decrease.
The shooter is believed to have killed with a shotgun from a vantage point overlooking a courtyard. How he smuggled a shotgun into the area is unknown. A rifle may also be involved. He was found in possession of a pistol, which he might have taken from a security officer.
Right now there are many more questions than answers. However, the anti-gun activists are already spinning gun-control politics. With luck, by this evening, we may have some substantial information on this sad situation.
