An accident involving a CCA prisoner transport vehicle near Genoa, Colorado killed one security guard and one prisoner today.

The van was carrying nine prisoners and two guards from the CCA operated Kit Carson Correctional Center in Burlington and was heading for the state prison in Limon when it rolled on an icy road.  The van was pulling a trailer, presumably carrying the personal property of the inmates.

The remaining security guard and prisoners were transported to the Lincoln Community Hospital in Hugo.  The names of the dead have yet to be released.  There were no escapes as a result of the accident, all prisoners are accounted for.
