Parolee arrested after barricade situation

By Jannise Johnson and Canan Tasci, Staff Writers — Six schools were shut down for up to three hours Thursday afternoon after a burglary suspect barricaded himself in a nearby house.

Ontario police officers eventually coaxed the man – Polo Cabrera, 25, of Ontario – out of a house at 3:50 p.m. without incident. He was booked on suspicion of residential burglary, felon in possession of a handgun and parole violation.

Police requested the lockdown as a precautionary measure at Arroyo, Corona and Vineyard elementary schools as well as Chaffey Adult School, Valley View High School and Dorothy Gibson County High School.

Police officers responded just before 1 p.m. to a house at Corona Avenue and Seventh Street after neighbors reported they saw a man run in and out of several houses. The officers surrounded the house, according to a police news release.[continue reading on Daily Bulletin…]
