Josephine Serrano Collier died on February 25 in Tucson Arizona at the age of 91. Why should anybody care? Josephine Serrano was the first Latina on the LAPD, having joined up at age 24 in 1946. I can’t imagine what it was like for a female of hispanic background to be working as a cop for the LAPD at that time but she did it.
She married another cop, Jack Collier. They had three kids. He went out on a medical in 1960 and they eventually moved to Idaho to raise cattle along the Snake River. Beautiful country.
