N. Y. shooting preliminary reports indicate many casualties caused by cops. (UPDATED)

Unattributed items on broadcast news today indicate that many of the ten injuries to bystanders in the New York shooting this morning were in fact caused by the two anti-terrorism squad NYPD officers who shot and killed the bad guy.  Whether or not it is true is clearly not known at this time, but it seems interesting enough to report.  A shootout on a crowded city street is a risky thing and it is not impossible for good guys to catch stray rounds.  It should not happen.  However, it does.

Update:  All nine collateral damage victims in the NY shooting were in fact shot by the cops.  It appears that the bad guy did not get a shot off at the secondary crime scene.  One officer fired seven shots, the other fired nine.

Six of the victims were treated and released.  Three were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.  I still have not heard how many shots hit the bad guy.  Judging from the surveillance footage, one cop shot from about 12 feet and the other from about 20 feet, apparently one-handed.
