Governor Brown explains how adopting a “Venus Year” fiscal cycle, as tracked by the Mayan calendar, will simplify budget assumptions and projections. Brown promised to balance the budget “this fiscal year” once the plan is adopted. “We won’t even have to pass the budget until December 21st,” the Governor added.
Governor Brown Issues Proclamation Declaring Intent to Modify Fiscal Year Cycle
BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA
In addition to the budget proposals I have already submitted to the Legislature and presented publicly to the media, it is my intention to simplify California’s difficult budget process by adopting what we all agree is a much more accurate system: The Mayan Calendar.
I am confident we can meet our goal of reducing excessive government spending well within the roughly 52 year Venus Year, beginning on December 21st, 2012 and ending December 20, 2063.
NOW THEREFORE I, EDMUND G. BROWN JR., Governor of the State of California, do hereby proclaim the Mayan calendar to be the official fiscal date tracking system of the State.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of California to be affixed this 18th day of January 2012.
