CDCr silent in Roseville shooting

GoldStarLogo[The quaint City of Roseville-Ed] was pretty much shut down Friday night due to the actions of a former guest of the state.

It appears that Sammy Nathan Duran, 32, a native of Roseville, shot an ICE agent in the leg and continued a rolling gunfight through the city, which ended with Duran’s surrender in the early hours of Saturday in a house nearby.  One additional officer was shot and four others hit by bullet fragments during the incident.

Duran was spotted on a bicycle and recognized as a wanted parolee.  The ICE agent hot-footed it after him, the cops with him moved around in their vehicle.

His neighbors and family say Duran was a nice guy.  He probably liked dogs and was good to his grandmother.  He was a validated gang member with a history of violence, but that seems to not be a big deal to them.  They also swear that the cops fired on him first, though they weren’t there to witness it.

The real interesting thing, at least to some of the media, is that CDCr is pretty effectively stonewalling any information release about Duran and whether or not he was an AB109 client.   One tends to wonder why.

How embarrassing that some POS manager can’t squeeze enough sack and make some sort of a statement. At least put his name, commitment offense, release date, etc out to the public. SOMETHING!! Sorry for the caps… The way we deal with this incident is how the public looks at us. Someone from DAPO should put out some info as well. Besides OCS staff, was there any DAPO staff out there?

They’re still trying to figure a way top spin this matter around to make AB109 look good.
